Amid Coronavirus-Related Duties Lahore Police Don’t Spare Criminals In March

LAHORE– Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations Wing) Lahore Rai Babar Saeed has said Lahore Police are striving hard to protect citizens from the dangers of the coronavirus as well as curb culprits to control crimes in the city.
Lahore Police (Operations Wing) issued its performance report of the month of March.
According to the report, as many as 239 accused of 94 gangs were arrested and an amount of rupees more than 01 Crore 56 lakh and 47 thousands was recovered from the gang members who was handed over to the real heirs.
During grand operation against illegal weapons, Lahore Police arrested 483 criminals and recovered 20 rifles, 03 Kalashnikovs, 15 guns, 05 daggers, 427 revolvers and pistols as well as bullets from their possession. More than 11kg heroin, 180kg and 945grm of charas, 15grm ICE, more than 07kg opium and 4,699 bottles of liquor were recovered from arrested 649 accused. An amount of rupees more than 08 lakh and 55 thousands was recovered from 431 accused during crackdown against gamblers. Lahore Police also arrested 106 criminals during its action against brothels’ in the city.
During campaign against proclaimed offenders, Police arrested 278 Proclaimed Offenders of A&B categories in cases of theft, Cheque dishonor, fraud and other crimes. Police also arrested 430 Court Offenders.
As many as 2574 criminals were arrested for violation of One Wheeling, Kite Flying, Aerial Firing, begging, Price Control, Foreigner, Tennant, Marriage and Loudspeaker Acts.
DIG Operations Rai Babar Saeed said that all the divisional SPs have been given special task to arrest criminals involved in heinous crimes. Special teams have been constituted to grab proclaimed offenders particularly drug peddlers involved in selling narcotics.
He said that latest technology and all possible resources are being utilized along with introducing institutional reforms for prevention and control of crimes in the city.— PRESS RELEASE
