Alhamra Presents Theatre Play ‘Jahaiz Ail Lanat’ at Jilani Park

LAHORE– The Lahore Arts Council has revived the rich tradition of street theater in which a new series called “Alhamra-on-Wheel” has been successfully launched.
In the 1st episode Alhamra has presented a theatre play “Jahaiz Aik Lanat” at Jilani Park which was greatly admired by the audience. 
In the 2nd episode of the series Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts students performed awareness based drama “Dengue” at the Government Islamia  School Boys Wasif Ali Wasif Gulshan Ravi.
Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Athar Ali Khan said the “Alhamra on Wheel” is a standard effort to promote the street theatre, in which dramas will be, deliver to people at their doorstep.
He stated that this kind of motivational and awareness based programs will continue for the masses; this is a concrete step towards the revival of the Street Theater.
He further said that in today’s episode thousands of school children watched the drama in which Alhamra teaches the students regarding dengue virus and the best ways to avoid it, students after watching the play  “Dengue” expressed their views and said that, they promised to clean their homes, their surroundings to keep dengue virus away.  Khan on his concluding remarks said that we all have to play our role together to control the dengue.
Teachers of the school highly appreciated Alhamra’s new step toward revival of street theatre and said that Lahore Arts Council has providing social awareness about different issues of our society especially to the youth which is praiseworthy.– PRESS HANDOUT
