Muslims Across Pakistan Observe Youm-e-Ashur Amid Strict Security Today
ISLAMABAD– Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharramul Haram, is being observed throughout Pakistan today with religious zeal to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the maternal nephew of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Guarded by security cordons, Taazia and Zuljanah processions are being taken out in all cities and towns across the country today in memory of martyrs of Karbala.
Ulema and Zakireen will highlight the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of Karbala tragedy.
The federal and provincial governments have taken strict security measures to maintain law and order on Youm-e-Ashur. Law enforcement agencies have been put on high alert throughout the country to deal with any eventuality.
Pillion riding has been banned and cell phone service has been suspended in various cities across the country.
Closed-circuit cameras have also been installed at sensitive points to keep a watch on majalis and processions.
On Monday, large processions on the 9th of Muharram were taken out in different cities across the country to keep the memory of Karbala alive in the hearts and minds of the faithful.
According to reports, the main procession in Karachi started from Nishtar Park and took the traditional route through the city. In Lahore, the main procession emerged from Islampura.
Processions also proceeded peacefully in the federal capital Islamabad as well as the provincial capitals Quetta and Peshawar.
All major processions of the 10th of Muharram will culminate at their last destination after Marghrib prayer.— LAHORE MIRROR
