DIG Ops Ashfaq Khan Presses Divisional SPs to Control Crime in City

LAHORE– DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan while presiding over Video Link meeting of all divisional SPs on Thursday directed them to speed up preventive measures to control crime in the city.

SSP Operations Lahore Ismail ur Rehman Kharak, SP security Muhammad Naveed, SP VVIP Security Mehmood ul Hassan Gillani, Assistant DIG, DSP Legal and other related officers attended the meeting whereas all divisional SPs, SP Headquarters, SP Dolphin Squad and SP Mujahid Squad participated in the meeting through video link.

DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan said that Yum-e-Shuhada e Police will be observed to pay homage to the sacrifices of martyrs of Lahore Police who laid their lives in the line of duty to save the lives of citizens. Solidarity will be shown to the families of these martyrs on this day, he added.

Ashfaq Khan directed the concerned officers to enhance the security of cattle markets setup for Eid-ul-Adha in the city along with shopping markets, business centers and other important places.

He further directed to adopt given SOPs to ensure security of masajid, Eid-Gahs and citizens on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha.

Ashfaq Khan said that consultative meetings should be conducted with the members of Peace Committees, trade unions and other stake holders to maintain law and order and peace in the city.

DIG Operations Lahore directed the concerned officers to particularly focus on the foolproof security of Chinese and other foreigners residing in Lahore.

Ashfaq Khan directed to take effective measures to stop the incidents of motor cycle and vehicles thefts along with taking strict action against gamblers and drug paddlers. Surety bonds should be taken from the persons involved in old enmities and gang wars.

He said that the incidents of one wheeling, aerial firing, death of under trial prisoners in lockups and escape from Police Stations will not be tolerated according to the zero tolerance policy of IG Punjab Captain® Arif Nawaz Khan.

CCTV cameras installed in different sections of Police Stations should be functional and their recording should be saved properly, otherwise strict disciplinary action would be taken against the persons responsible.

He directed divisional SPs to initiate search and combing operations according to the identified Hot Spots and Note Points to curb the criminals.

DIG Operations Lahore directed to take action against illegal weapons and write letters to the concerned departments for cancellation of the licensed weapons if used in aerial firing which causes harassment.

Performance of the Police officers will be judged according to the targets meet to arrest Proclaimed Offenders of A category, he added.

Ashfaq Khan directed SHOs to utilize all possible resources to make Police Stations neat and clean and plant trees in their premises to make the atmosphere pleasant.

All SHOs should ensure their presence in their offices from 4pm to 6pm daily to redress the grievance of the citizens.

Effective measures should be taken to resolve the complaints lodged at Prime Minister Delivery Unit, Helpline 8787 and other channels as well, he concluded.— PRESS HANDOUT
