LAHORE MIRROR — After imposing emergency, the federal government has deployed the Pakistan Army in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to assist the civil administration and ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Interior.
The notification states that the deployment has been approved under Article 245 of the Constitution. The army will assist the civil administration in maintaining security and safeguarding citizens, public property and government installations.
According to the notification, the deployment will remain in effect for the duration of the emergency imposed on 11 October 2026.
The governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will determine the number of troops required in consultation with General Headquarters (GHQ). The strength of the deployment will be finalised in coordination with the Directorate of Military Operations.
The order regarding the deployment of the Pakistan Army will be published in Part II of the Gazette of Pakistan.
