LAHORE MIRROR — Pakistan’s junior hockey team qualified for the semi-finals of the Men’s Junior Hockey Asia Cup after defeating Malaysia 5-2 in China on Monday.
Pakistan, one of the strongest sides in Pool B, trailed 1-0 at half-time after Malaysia’s Muhammad Salehi scored in the ninth minute.
Pakistan’s junior hockey team staged a remarkable comeback in the third quarter, scoring five goals to take control of the contest.
Nadeem Khan equalised in the 32nd minute before Abdullah Sami Rana gave Pakistan the lead four minutes later. Waleed Rana then scored twice in quick succession in the 39th and 40th minutes to extend Pakistan’s advantage.
Ali Hamza added Pakistan’s fifth goal in the 41st minute, while Malaysia’s Ganaselin Dheeresh scored a consolation goal in the 54th minute.
Waleed Rana scored twice for Pakistan, while Ali Hamza was named Player of the Match.
