LAHORE MIRROR — A judicial magistrate in Lahore has ordered the release of Saadat Anees, who was arrested in connection with the assault on a petrol pump employee, after the complainant and the accused reached an out-of-court settlement.
According to the court’s order issued on Saturday, the magistrate rejected the police request for a 10-day physical remand of the accused, citing the settlement between the two parties. The court subsequently discharged Anees from the case and ordered his release.
During the proceedings, the complainant told the court the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding and that, after reconciliation, he no longer wanted to pursue the case.
The case was registered at Chung police station after a video showing the petrol pump employee being assaulted went viral on social media, sparking public attention.
This is a tight slap in the face of those entitled, spoiled brats who look down upon the poor as if they were lesser human beings. They arrogantly believe that money and power put them above the law, allowing them to exploit, intimidate, and act with impunity.
Let me make one thing absolutely clear: As Chief Minister of Punjab, I stand firmly with the oppressed, regardless of how powerful their oppressors may be. No amount of wealth, influence, or political connections should enable anyone to escape accountability. Justice is not a privilege reserved for the rich and powerful; it is a fundamental right of every citizen. No one is above the law, and no victim should ever have to fight alone simply because the perpetrator has money or influence.

On Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz shared a video of the accused’s arrest on social media platform X, stating that no one should be allowed to evade the law on the strength of wealth or influence.
In her statement, the chief minister said the incident served as a message to those who considered poor people inferior and believed their wealth and power placed them above the law.
She reiterated that, as chief minister, she stood with victims of injustice, regardless of how powerful their alleged perpetrators might be. She added that wealth, influence and political connections could not exempt anyone from accountability before the law.
Maryam Nawaz further stressed that justice was a fundamental right of every citizen and that no victim should be left to fight for justice alone simply because the opposing party was influential.
