LAHORE MIRROR — Lahore High Court (LHC) Judge Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh resigned immediately from his post, citing personal reasons
The judge sent his resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari under Article 206 of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973. Justice Raheel said he was resigning from the office of high court judge with immediate effect.
Justice Raheel Kamran said serving as a judge and contributing to the administration of justice in accordance with his oath and conscience had been an honour and a privilege.
“The years I spent as a judge of this court have been among the most constructive and fulfilling years of my professional life,” he said.
The judge said that after deep and continuous reflection, he had concluded that it would be better for his further professional growth as a jurist, and for his ability to contribute to the rule of law and access to justice, to engage more extensively in legal scholarship, policy research and the study and practice of comparative judicial methods.
The LHC had appointed Justice Raheel Kamran as an additional judge on May 7, 2021. He was due to retire in 2036.
