LAHORE MIRROR — The Punjab Prosecution Department has declared the murder case of Hina Javed a “high-profile” case and constituted a special committee of senior prosecutors to oversee the investigation and provide legal assistance to the investigation team.
Punjab Prosecutor General Irfan Sadiq Tarar has directed District Public Prosecutor Rawalpindi Mian Imran Rahim to ensure effective prosecution of the case registered at the Civil Lines police station.
The department has also formed a special committee comprising senior prosecutors to monitor both the investigation and prosecution proceedings closely.
According to the department, the committee will regularly review progress in the Hina Javed murder case and provide the investigation team with any legal assistance required to ensure a thorough and effective investigation.
A key meeting between the district prosecutor and police officers also reviewed all available case records, evidence and progress made in the investigation so far.
According to the first information report (FIR), registered on the complaint of Hina Javed’s brother at the Civil Lines police station, the body of 45-year-old Hina was recovered from the bathroom of her in-laws’ home on the morning of August 20.
The FIR contains disturbing details, stating that the victim’s hands had been tied behind her back, her mouth had been gagged with a piece of cloth, and an electrical wire had been wrapped around her neck and tied to a shower.
Hina’s family has nominated her husband, father-in-law and a domestic worker in the murder case.
A medical examination and post-mortem report that emerged recently have further strengthened suspicions of severe physical assault and murder.
