ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a contempt of court petition against the government over the transfer of party founder Imran Khan to a hospital for medical examination.
The petition, filed by PTI lawyers Salman Akram Raja and Uzair Bhandari, seeks initiation of contempt proceedings over the alleged violation of the Supreme Court’s order dated August 18, 2026.
The contempt petition regarding Imran Khan’s transfer also requests the court to issue show-cause notices to those responsible for the alleged contempt and order their personal appearance.
It further asks the court to declare the respondents guilty of contempt of court and punish them in accordance with the law.
PTI has also requested the Supreme Court to immediately transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for a medical examination.
The petition seeks the appointment of a judicial officer or the formation of a local commission to ensure compliance with the court’s order.
The Supreme Court had ordered that Imran Khan be transferred to Shifa International Hospital for a medical examination. However, the government transferred him to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where he underwent a comprehensive medical examination before being taken back to Adiala Jail.
