NOWSHERA (LAHORE MIRROR) — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will mobilise two million supporters for a gathering in Islamabad on September 27, reaffirming the party’s commitment to the political vision of its founding chairman, Imran Khan.
Speaking at the launch of a tree plantation campaign in Spin Khak, Nowshera, on Friday, Afridi said PTI had never considered acquiring power or government positions as its primary objective.
He urged residents of Spin Khak to participate in the September 27 gathering in Islamabad and said the party would continue pursuing what he described as Imran Khan’s vision.
The chief minister formally launched the plantation campaign by planting a sapling. Provincial Health Minister Khaliqur Rahman, Special Assistant on Forests Pir Masoor Ghazi and members of the provincial assembly attended the event.
Afridi said the provincial government had set an initial target of planting 1.4 million saplings in a single day, but the Forest Department surpassed the target by planting 1.7 million.
He praised the department’s performance and said public resources should be utilised for projects aimed at benefiting future generations.
The chief minister also said residents of Garhi Chandan had earned Rs70 million through forest-related activities.
Referring to recent flash floods and cloudbursts, Afridi directed the authorities to expand plantation efforts across the province. He also instructed the Forest Department to establish tourist huts in forest areas.
He proposed encouraging foreign visitors to plant trees in their own names as part of efforts to promote environmental protection and tourism.
Afridi said public welfare remained PTI’s top priority and claimed that the provincial government’s ongoing initiatives were being implemented in line with the ideas and vision associated with Imran Khan.
He added that PTI workers had joined the party to support constitutional supremacy and the rule of law.
