LAHORE MIRROR — A Kolkata court has issued an arrest warrant for Indian actress Zareen Khan on charges of cheating.
According to Indian media reports, several complaints were filed against Zareen Khan in Kolkata. The investigating officer of the case submitted a charge sheet against the actress in the Sealdah Court of Kolkata.
The case against Zareen Khan was filed in 2018 after complaints were lodged by an event management company against her for not performing at six events of a puja in Kolkata.
Despite repeated court notices, the actress did not appear, leading to the issuance of her arrest warrant.
When Indian media contacted Zareen Khan about the arrest warrant, she responded, “I believe there is no truth in this news. I am also surprised and am in touch with my lawyer in this regard. After speaking to him, only the matter will be known.”
In 2018, Zareen Khan was scheduled to perform during the Durga Puja ceremony in Kolkata. However, she did not appear, causing organizers to file a complaint of cheating against her and her manager.
During the investigation, a charge sheet was filed against Zareen Khan and her manager. The manager appeared in court and applied for bail, but the actress neither applied for bail nor appeared in court.
Zareen Khan had claimed miscommunication regarding flight tickets and accommodation, citing that she was initially told heavyweight ministers, including the Chief Minister of Bengal, would participate in the event. However, her team later discovered it was a smaller-scale event in North Kolkata.
Police sources revealed that Zareen Khan had also filed a case against the organizers of the show in a local court.
