SNGPL Disconnects 229 Connections, Books Rs7.3 Million Under Gas Theft
In a major raid, SNGPL’s regional team uncovered four illegal gas networks in Sialkot.

LAHORE MIRROR – The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) disconnected another 229 gas connections in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad during the ongoing crackdown against gas pilferers while booking Rs7.3 million on account of gas theft.
According to a press release issued here on Saturday, in a major raid, SNGPL’s regional team uncovered four illegal gas networks in Sialkot.
In Peshawar, the company disconnected 38 connections on account of direct use of gas and illegal connections while booking more than 0.5 million rupees on account of gas theft.
In Rawalpindi, the regional team disconnected 9 gas connections. SNGPL’s team in Mardan disconnected 13 gas connections for illegal use of gas. An amount of Rs. 240,000 was also booked for gas theft.
In Sialkot, the company disconnected 10 connections and four illegal gas networks.
The regional team also booked 1.2 million rupees on gas theft. Seven gas connections were disconnected in Sargodha on illegal use of gas while another connection was disconnected on account of meter tampering.
The regional team in Gujranwala disconnected 13 connections on illegal use of gas while booking an amount of Rs. 250,000 on gas theft.
In Gujrat, SNGPL disconnected 9 connections on illegal use of gas while another 2 on use of a compressor.
The company disconnected 8 connections for using fake meters while one was on direct use of gas. In Sahiwal, seven meters were disconnected on illegal extensions and meter tampering while more than 20,000 rupees were booked on account of gas theft.
The regional team in Faisalabad disconnected 29 connections for gas theft. The region also booked Rs. 10,000 against gas theft.
In Lahore, the regional team disconnected 26 connections on meter tampering; 12 on illegal use of gas for commercial purposes; and one for the use compressor.
The team also booked Rs. 4.9 million on gas theft. In Bahawalpur, the regional team disconnected 25 connections on the use of a compressor while another 7 on gas theft.
The company disconnected 33 connections on illegal use of gas while booking 40 thousand rupees on gas theft in Multan. In Sheikhupura, one connection was disconnected on direct bypass.
The head office-based UFG Task Force also raided different places in Peshawar and other places, and unearthed gas theft from a service line which was used to provide illegal gas to 13 households. The team disconnected the network and initiated legal action against those involved in the act.
