Federal Secretary Abdullah Sumbal Passes Away Today

The funeral prayer of the late Abdullah Sunbal will be offered tomorrow, Thursday, September 7, after the Asr prayer at 5 p.m. at Habib Masjid, Tufail Road, Lahore. He will be buried in the Mian Mir graveyard.

LAHORE MIRROR – Former Chief Secretary of Punjab, who was presently serving as Federal Interior Secretary, Abdullah Sumbal, passed away on Wednesday due to cardiac arrest.

According to the media reports, Sumbal had been seriously ill for the past four days and was receiving treatment at the CMH.

He had previously served as Punjab chief secretary and was widely regarded as one of the most competent and humble officers in the Pakistan Civil Service.

Commissioner Lahore’s office announced in a tweet that the funeral prayer of the late Abdullah Sunbal will be offered tomorrow, Thursday, September 7, after the Asr prayer at 5 p.m. at Habib Masjid, Tufail Road, Lahore. He will be buried in the Mian Mir graveyard.

Interim Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed profound sorrow and condolences over Sumbal’s passing, praying that Allah may grant peace to his soul and provide strength to his grieving family.

Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Ahmad Bugti also extended his condolences to Sumbal’s family, emphasizing that the deceased was an exceptional officer, and his sudden demise is a significant loss to both his family and the civil service.

The former PM of Pakistan also expressed his profound grief over the sudden demise of the Federal Secretary in a tweet on social media. His tweet reads: “I can’t believe this sad news about the passing of Abdullah Khan Sumbal. I have known him for about two decades. He worked closely with me as my Secretary and in other key field positions. I found him to be a thorough gentleman with unwavering professional and personal integrity.

One of his remarkable achievements was overseeing the Lahore Ring Road project as a project director. His passion for reading set him apart from his colleagues.

His sad departure is not only a loss to his family but also to the country, which has lost a dedicated and capable civil servant. My heartfelt condolences to his family. I am deeply saddened.”
