LAHORE MIRROR – Bushra Bibi, the wife of the former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) on Friday, urging the court to take ‘serious notice’ of the alleged threats to her husband’s life. She cited a ‘considerable decline’ in his health during her meeting with him in Atock Jail.
She submitted her affidavit to the Supreme Court through her lawyer, Syed Rifaqat Hussain Shah. The affidavit detailed her meeting with her husband on August 22.
In her affidavit, Bushra noted that she was eventually permitted to meet Imran Khan on Tuesday at the Attock jail, but the encounter was marred by unwarranted delays and challenges.
The document further revealed that “during the course of the meeting, the petitioner [Imran Khan] reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to upholding the Constitution and the rule of law in Pakistan. He expressed his readiness to make any sacrifice and endure hardships for the sake of his beloved country.”
Bushra also emphasized the “notable deterioration in the petitioner’s health,” observing that he has experienced a significant weight loss during his time in confinement, particularly evident in the muscle mass reduction around his arms.
“The decline in the health of an individual in his 70s poses a grave threat to his life,” the affidavit warned. In conclusion, Bushra urged the Supreme Court to take immediate cognizance of Imran Khan’s declining health and the credible threats posed to his life while in detention.
