LAHORE MIRROR — Humayun Dilawar, the additional session judge who sentenced the PTI chairman in the Toshakhana case, is reported to have traveled to the United Kingdom to attend a judicial conference.
According to sources, a letter has emerged nominating Dilawar for training, which was written by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) registrar on August 4. The letter states that IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq had nominated Judge Dilawar to participate in the event.
The letter requested the inclusion of Dilawar’s name instead of his peer Faizan Haider, another judge, for the training program at the UK University of Hill.
The program’s topic is “Human Rights and Rule of Law,” and it is being funded by the Commonwealth Secretariat. The training initiative involved a selection process that has been ongoing for the last two months, with some judges from Islamabad and Peshawar being replaced due to visa issues.
Judge Dilawar’s participation in this training program has drawn attention, given his recent involvement in the high-profile Toshakhana case.
However, it’s important to note that this is a routine training opportunity for judicial development, and the conference’s focus on human rights and the rule of law is aimed at enhancing legal expertise and knowledge among participating judges.
