LAHORE MIRROR — Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) quid Nawaz Sharif, along with his family, arrived in Italy from Dubai on Friday.

The visit to Europe is part of a diplomatic tour, during which Nawaz Sharif is expected to visit Switzerland and Germany after concluding his stay in Italy. It was also reported that he will return to London following the completion of his seven-day Europe visit.

The European tour of Nawaz Sharif and his engagement with political leaders from different parties hold significance for Pakistan’s political landscape. It remains to be seen how the discussions on electoral reforms and caretaker setups will shape the future of the country’s democratic processes.

Earlier as per sources, Nawaz Sharif met with former president Asif Zardari in a hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, UAE. The sources also said that the leaders of the two major political parties discussed crucial issues, including the dissolution of assemblies, the date of general elections, and seat adjustment in Punjab.

It is worth mentioning here that the initial meeting did not lead to a resolution on several important matters, resulting in a deadlock. Despite this, Nawaz Sharif extended an invitation to the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) for a dinner meeting at his residence in Emirates Hills, Dubai, to continue discussions on pending issues.

Additional sessions are reportedly being planned to develop a comprehensive plan for holding the general elections in November this year. There are also discussions about the dissolution of Parliament, expected to take place in the first week of August. As of now, further details on these developments are yet to be disclosed.

Sources have revealed that a formula has been chosen for the caretaker setups in Sindh, Balochistan, and the central government. While specific details remain undisclosed, the agreement aims to ensure a smooth and transparent transition of power during the caretaker period.

Earlier this month, reports surfaced about a consensus reached between PML-N and PPP regarding important matters concerning the caretaker setup and electoral reforms in Pakistan.
