LAHORE MIRROR — The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) was arrested after ice (crystal meth) and aphrodisiacs were allegedly recovered from his possession along with a number of obscene videos of officials and students of the university from his two mobile phones.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), a copy of which is available to Lahore Mirror, the stunning disclosure came when a car was signaled to stop at a checkpoint by police officers of Bahawalpur’s Baghdadul Jadid police station. The driver attempted to flee upon seeing the police, but the officers intercepted the vehicle.
During the search, the officers found 10 grams of crystal meth and aphrodisiacs in the suspect’s possession. The driver identified himself as IUB’s CSO, SEHS, a resident of Muhammadia Colony, Bahawalpur.
The FIR, filed by SI Muhammad Afzal Nawaz, further alleged that the suspect’s mobile phones contained numerous objectionable videos and pictures of women, including female officials from various departments of IUB and students.
The suspect reportedly confessed to using and selling crystal meth and acknowledged that the objectionable content on his mobile phones was indeed related to the university’s female personnel and students.
Baghdadul Jadid SHO Abid Hamid explained that the police conducted the search based on intelligence-driven information and their active efforts to eradicate drug peddlers from educational institutions.
It was learned that CSO, a retired army major, had been employed by the university several years ago under the former vice-chancellor. The IUB website also identifies him as the CSO of the university.
The FIR revealed that all relevant material including mobile phones have been sent for forensics to investigate the objectionable videos, pictures, etc. The sources said that some more officials may be involved in this heinous crime.
The IUB spokesman did not respond when was contacted on his WhatsApp number to seek official version.
IUB notifies investigation
However details later shared by the spokesman says the IUB Vice Chancellor instructed a committee to investigate the two arrested officials and a notification was issued, meanwhile, after coordination with the university, the Higher Education Department South Punjab also formed a joint committee to investigate the matter.
IUB legal adviser requests LHC, IGP for inquiry
Advocate Farooq Bashir, the Legal Adviser Islamia University Bahawalpur has also requested the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court and IG Punjab to set up a joint investigation team and judicial inquiry to investigate the two officers of the Islamia University Bahawalpur.
Since last one month, the reputation of the university is being undermined by implicating university officers in bogus cases, Bashir said and alleged that the private sector mafia is using the police for their nefarious purposes. “The best admission policy of the IUB, the establishment of new departments, the owners of the private educational institutions have come up with a conspiracy.”
He said parents and students are being discouraged by propagating drugs and sexual harassment in the university on the occasion of admissions. A media trial of the university leadership is being conducted under a heinous conspiracy.
For this purpose, journalists and YouTubers are being bought with huge sums of money to damage the admission campaign of the university. Islamia University Bahawalpur has zero tolerance policy regarding drugs and sexual harassment. In the past, such incidents did not happen or come to light.
The adviser said the IUB is providing high educational opportunities to students from middle class and poor families. In fact, this is the crime of this university and today the university leadership and officers are being put in the dock and are being targeted for retaliation by the police.
Islamia University Bahawalpur $25 billion agricultural projects, intercropping of cottonseed, maize and soybeans that have threatened importers of edible oil and poultry feed, and the plan to populate Cholistan with artificial rain are knocking in their eyes. Above all, all the private colleges in Bahawalpur division have deserted due to the easy admission policy of the university.
After all, why are drugs being exported from the university officers from the same place and police station with the same method, and at the same time the media trial is started.
The witness of both the FIRs is the same person Mohammad Kashif who is wanted in narcotics cases. He said that the university has also written a letter to IG Punjab in this regard, the adviser added.
