Emergency Response Centers Set Up For Rain-related Public Grievances

KARACHI– An important meeting was held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Commissioner Danish Saeed regarding the establishment of Emergency Response Center.
Municipal Services Department, Engineering Department, Medical and Health Services Department, Parks and Horticulture Department, HRM, Officers of Fire Brigade, City Wardens and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Metropolitan Commissioner said that an Emergency Response Center has been set up in the Metropolitan Commissioner’s Secretariat on the instructions of Administrator Karachi. The contact numbers are 021-99216095, 021-99216038. Citizens can register their grievances by contacting these numbers in view of the current weather.
Representatives of all concerned departments will be present in this center 24 hours a day and immediately inform the concerned offices on the complaints received from any part of the city. In order to provide immediate assistance to the citizens, the Rain Emergency Response Center has deployed experienced and expert representatives who can forward the received complaints to the concerned departments in a timely manner, the Metropolitan Commissioner said.
He said that apart from Rain Emergency Response Centers set up by the Fire Brigade and Medical Services Department, shovels and cranes will be on standby at Sohrab Goth Fire Station, Central Fire Station, Landhi Fire Station and Hawks Bay Emergency Response Center.
Loaders and other machinery will also be kept ready and life guards will be deployed including boats while complete arrangements have been made to provide immediate medical aid to patients in hospitals under the medical department, the metropolitan commissioner said. He further directed that the drainage pumps should be delivered to the required places in the shortest possible time.
He further directed that in Yousuf Goth, Saadi Town and other low lying areas. KMC engineers should be present in the nearby camp office, our performance in dealing with the rain situation should be such that the citizens themselves feel that the relevant departments of KMC are ready to protect and assist them.
He said that all the departments working during the Rain Emergency the needs will be met and the supply of vehicles, fuel and other things will be made possible. We have to make a good impression on the citizens through our work and fulfill our responsibilities better and more efficiently than before.
