Police, Administration Ensure Implementation on Corona SOPs Through ‘Unstoppable Flag Marches’ in Lahore
LAHORE– Lahore Police took out another flag march in different areas of the city on Tuesday to monitor law and order situation as well as implementation on Corona SOPs by citizens during complete lockdown imposed by the Punjab government.
Capital City Police Officer Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar along with Commissioner Lahore Captain (Retired) Muhammad Usman led the flag march. DIG Operations Sajid Kiani, CTO Lahore Syed Hammad Abid and other senior police officers also participated in the flag march.
Contingents of Pakistan Army and Rangers, teams of different operational units of Lahore Police including Dolphin Squad, Elite Force, traffic police and Police Response Unit were part of the flag march.
Flag March started from Town Hall and passed through different roads and markets of the city including Mall Road, Canal Road, Dharampura, Sadar Bazar, Jorray Pull, Chongi Amar Sadhu, Ring Road, Baidian Road, Bhatta Chowk and other areas of the city.
CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar along with teams of district administration through pedestrian patrolling monitored the implementation of lockdown regarding Corona SOPs and distributed masks among citizens giving them awareness about the threats of impending dangers of spread of Conroa virus.
Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said there is complete lock down in the city from 8th May till May 16, however the establishments and shops with exemption have been allowed to continue their business following the SOPs strictly.
He further said the purpose of the flag march, patrolling and other security measures is to create awareness among citizens to follow Corona SOPs for the safety of their own life.
It is matter of satisfaction that most of the citizens have been following the SOPs including wearing masks in response to continuous awareness campaign of Lahore Police. Moreover Lahore Police under “The Punjab Infectious Diseases (Prevention and Control) Act 2020” registered as many as 4792 FIRs during 39 days against different Corona SOPs violations including not wearing face masks.
Police lodged 1919 FIRs on violation of Corona SOPs including maintenance of social distance and not following timings of commercial activities whereas 2873 FIRs were registered against persons for not following the government directions to wear safety masks.— PRESS RELEASE
