Sindh Excise Collects Over Rs62,178 Million In Taxes Till February: Chawla

KARACHI– An important meeting on tax collection was held under the chairmanship of Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department & Parliamentary Affairs. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Ajaz Ahmed Memon, Director Generals Haji Saleem Bhutto, Munir Ahmed Zardari, and other officers. Briefing the meeting, it was informed that in the current financial year from July 2020 to February 2021, a total of Rs. 62178.904 million was collected in terms of various taxes while Rs 54483.406 million was collected in the same period last year. The meeting was further informed that Rs. 6493.287 million was collected under motor vehicle tax and Rs. 50386.038 million under infrastructure cess, while Rs. 417.399 million was collected under professional tax and Rs. 80.037 million under cotton fee. 1379.307 million in property tax and Rs. 22.242 million in entertainment duty.
Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department & Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla directed the officers to srive to achieve their tax targets before the end of the current financial year.Sindh Excise Department is proud of the officers and staff who performed well while those who performed poorly will be dealt with severely.
