Punjab University VC Stresses Joint Efforts for Quality Education
LAHORE– Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad has urged the stakeholders for making collective efforts in order to improve the standard of higher education in Pakistan further.
He was addressing an online national conference on quality assurance: challenges and reforms at New Campus here on Wednesday.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, Vice Chancellor Mian Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Amir Ejaz, Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof Dr Amra Raza, Doctoral Program Coordination Committee Chairperson Prof Dr Anjum Nasim Sabri, Quality Enhancement Cell Director Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Higher Education Commission’s National Accreditation Council for Teachers Education Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Memon and others participated in the conference.
Addressing the conference, Prof Niaz Ahmad said that the education sector was facing the challenges of quality human resource and infrastructure and we must cope with these challenges. He said that the Quality Enhancement Cell had been established in all the universities to ensure quality of higher education in Pakistan.
Dr Amir Ejaz said that it was the prime responsibility of the universities and the faculty members to produce the best graduates as per the demand of the relevant industry.
He said that at least four percent of GDP should be spent on education in Pakistan. He said that investment in the higher education sector could bring a great revolution in Pakistan. Dr Saeed explained the aims and objectives of the conference. He said that HEC had been taking many measures to ensure the quality of academic and research. He said that it had provided a platform to benefit from each other’s experiences.— PRESS RELEASE
