AVLS Busts 6 Gangs, Recovers 86 Vehicles and 464 Motorcycles: SSP Inv Lhr Qaisrani

LAHORE– The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS) Lahore has arrested 15 recorded accused of 6 gangs involved in snatching and stealing cars, motorcycles and rickshaws and recovered 46 cars, 40 other vehicles, 464 motorcycles and illegal firearms worth more than Rs60 million.

This was disclosed by SSP Investigation Lahore Abdul Ghaffar Qaisarani during a press conference with representatives of print and electronic media at Investigation Headquarters Qilla Gujjar Singh today. A large number of electronic and print media including SP Anti Vehicle Lifting Staff Ijaz Rasheed, all Divisional DSPs were also present on the occasion.

SSP Investigation Lahore said that in the light of clear instructions of DIG Investigation Shahzada Sultan, special teams of anti-vehicle lifting staff were working day and night to prevent vehicle snatching and theft and to arrest the culprits involved.

He said that the Divisional Police Teams of Anti Vehicle Lifting Staff carried out the operation and snatched cars, motorcycles and rickshaws and stole 15 records of 6 gangs of accused including Umair, Zafar Iqbal, Amjad Ali, Ambassador, Muhammad Bin Qasim. Ali, Chand, Zubair, Mudassar, Khalid and Shehzad were arrested and 46 cars, 40 other vehicles, 464 motorcycles and illegal weapons worth more than Rs 6 crore were recovered from them. The accused seized motorcycles parked outside parking stands, markets and houses.

They used to escape by stealing through. It is noteworthy that the accused used to sell the stolen vehicles by tampering them and making fake registration plates of non-customs paid vehicles while the accused used to open the parts of motorcycles and sell them at extremely low prices in the market.

The accused have previous records and have been arrested and jailed several times in the past while 340 cases of vehicle snatching and theft have also been traced against the accused after their release on bail. Finally, SSP Investigation Lahore Abdul Ghaffar Qaisarani and SP AVLS Ijaz Rashid distributed the keys of the recovered vehicles and motorcycles to the original owners.

DIG Investigation Lahore Shahzada Sultan appreciated the performance of the teams of anti-vehicle lifting staff and announced certificates of appreciation for their excellent performance.
