Sindh Govt Allows Fishing Amid Strict Corona SOPs

KARACHI– The Sindh government on Wednesday allowed fishing to operate during the lockdown while adopting the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to contain the spread of the Covid19.
The SOPs for the harbour and fisherman were issued at a meeting attended by all stakeholders and office-bearers from federal ports and shipping department and the Sindh fisheries department.
Both the federal and the Sindh government allowed fishing but required from all stakeholders to submit and undertaking compliance with the SOPs before commencing operations.
The administration of Karachi Fish Harbour asked the fishermen to follow SOPs of social distancing, hand sanitisers and face mask
It has become mandatory to disinfect the harbour after fish is sold. Staff and vehicles associated with exports will enter via and a walk through sanitiser gate. The business operating export processing plant will be bound to ensure limited staff is called in shifts.
Any one who violets these SOPs will be dealt with as per law. The staff of the Fishermen Cooperative Society and Karachi Fish Harbour will be responsible.
