FAISALABAD– The City District Police Faisalabad has rejected as baseless a news item circulating on social media about the participation of City Police Officer Captain (retired) Mohammad Sohail Ch in a police encounter that killed four kidnappers cum murderers of a five-year-old child.
In a clarification note, it was stated that the Civil Lines police were taking two suspects Umair Raza and Ghulam Abbas to recover a murder weapon when seven armed men, riding four bikes, intercepted police party and managed to get the arrested suspects free.
Policemen began chasing the suspects and a crossfire took place. The suspects lost control over bikes and some bullets fired by the suspects hit their own accomplices as a result Umair Raza, Ghulam Abbas, Umar and Shahbaz were killed.
A case was registered in Ghulam Mohammadabad police station.
Police clarified that neither CPO Sohail Ch was present at the crime scene nor he took part in the encounter.
