IGP Obliges CM’s ‘Close Relative’, Posts Amir Taimoor Sahiwal As DPO

LAHORE– In another series of latest reshuffles in field formations, the Punjab Police chief on Thursday transferred and posted few police officers in the provincial districts including the close relative of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bozdar.

Amir Taimur, who is a relative of the CM from maternal side, has already enjoyed several key field postings in the past. Soon after Bozdar took oath of his office, Taimour was posted Rahim Yar Khan DPO. Later he ‘got’ another lucrative district of Bahawalpure.

According to a notification issued by the Central Police Office Lahore, Multan Region Special Branch SP Amir Taimur, BS-18, has been transferred and posted Sahiwal District Police Officer vice SSP Captain (retired) Muhammad Ali Zia.

SSP Zia has been posted Bhakkar DPO vice SP Faisal Gulzar who has been transferred and posted Sargodha DPO in his own pay and scale.

Sargodha DPO Amara Athar has been transferred and posted AIG Monitoring & Crime Analysis Investigation Branch Punjab Lahore. AIG Monitoring & Crime Asad Sarfraz Khan has been posted SSP Motor Transport Punjab vice SSP Awais Ahmad who has been ordered to report to the Central Police Office.

SSP Dr Sardar Ghias Gul Khan, who was awaiting posting, has been posted Jhang DPO vice SSP Muhammad Hassan Reza Khan who has been ordered to report to the CPO Lahore.

SSP Hassan Reza Khan, who has been recently promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police in a recently held board, is likely to be posted soon.

He is class fellow of a son of Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. A source close to Khan’s circles claims that the newly promoted DIG wished to be posted as Regional Police Officer (RPO). However, the Punjab government has recently appointed Additional DIG Shahid Hanif as RPO Sheikhupura and DIG Zubair Dareshak as RPO Bahawalpure. The remaining regions are already filled.

SP Amara Athar has been removed only after few months of her posting. She is the first woman police officer in Punjab who was posted the district police chief in the past.

SP Faisal Gulzar is also considered an influential officer as he has got several key postings in the past.

Sources in the Punjab Police claim that incumbent IGP Shoaib Dastgir is not much effective in getting his recommendations approved for appointing field officers in field as majority decisions to appoint RPOs, CPOs and DPOs are being made by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

They say political influence in police administration is a routine matter even in the tenure of the PTI government in Punjab.
