Trump Says Prince Harry, Meghan Markle ‘Must Pay’ If They Want To Live In The US

After news of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s move to Los Angeles broke out, the US President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Sunday and announced that the government would not pay for their protection.

Trump in a blatant tweet wrote, “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the US, however, the US will not pay for their security protection.”

He then added with emphasis, “They must pay!”

But the former royals made it clear that they weren’t asking for any help in the first place. A Sussex spokesperson said in a statement to CNN on Sunday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources.

Prince Harry may have dropped his royal title but royal blood still runs in his veins. Thus, him and his wife have already made privately funded security arrangements.

In January, Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step back from the royal life to become ‘financially independent’.” They also shared their desire to “carve out a progressive new role within this institution” in an Instagram post.

They also said they planned to relocate to Canada on a part-time basis. While there, Canada has assisted the couple with security arrangements. However, those arrangements are set to end on March 31, when they officially bow out as senior royals.— THE EXPRESS TRIBUNE
