VC Inaugurates Punjab University’s Web TV
LAHORE – Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad on Monday inaugurated test transmission of Punjab University Web television. In this regards, a ceremony was organized at Hameed Nizami Hall of Institute of Communication Studies.
Renowned senior teacher of journalism Prof Dr Mehdi Hassan, senior journalist Najam Wali Khan, Salman Abid, Tanvir Shahzad, Mian Ghaffar, President ASA Prof Dr Mumtaz Anwar Choudhary, Secretary Javed Sami, Director ICS Prof Dr Noshina Saleem, faculty members and large number of students were present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmad said that there were high hopes associated with PU Web TV. He said that PU Web TV would become the best training institute for the students of journalism and others who wanted to join media. He said that PU Web TV would become a reliable source of information and it would broadcast facts based on truth.
He said that PU Web TV would also provide guidelines on national and international issues. He congratulated Prof Dr Noshina Saleem, Assistant Prof Seemab Bukhari, Public Relations Officer Khuram Shahzad and team members on successfully launching PU Web TV just in four days and met a difficult challenge. He also announced to construct second floor on the building of ICS as it was being upgraded in Faculty of Media and Communication Studies.
He also announced Rs one hundred thousand rupees prize for the pioneer team of PU Web TV. Addressing the ceremony, Prof Dr Mehdi Hasan said that PU Web TV could become a voice of young generation. He advised the students that there was no “i” in the media but “we”.
Senior journalist Najam Wali Khan said that a web TV channel like PU Web TV was a ray of hope for media practitioners to express independently and earn money as well in this age of crisis and unemployment in media industry. Prof Dr Mumtaz Anwar Chaudhry said that many people expressed their views on national channels which did not have expertise in the field.
He said that PU Web TV would provide genuine expert opinion on national and international issues. Senior journalists Salman Abid, Tanvir Shahzad, Mian Ghaffar and others expressed their views and congratulated the administration on launching TV channel.–PRESS RELEASE
