Washington- President Donald Trump has said that the United States will somehow reopen the Strait of Hormuz and make it safe and free again so that global trade and oil transportation are not affected.

In a statement released on his social media platform Truth Social, Donald Trump said the United States hopes that many countries—including China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom—will send their naval warships to protect this important waterway.

He further said that many countries around the world are willing to deploy their navies to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and secure in order to prevent any potential threat from Iran.

The U.S. president added that during this time the United States will continue air operations against Iran and will not allow Iranian boats or warships to create any obstruction in the Strait of Hormuz.

President Donald Trump also rejected reports claiming that five U.S. tanker aircraft were destroyed in an Iranian attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

Clarifying further, Trump said that although the air base had been targeted a few days earlier, the aircraft were not destroyed. Out of the five aircraft, four suffered very minor or no damage.

The U.S. president said these aircraft have already returned to operational service, while one aircraft had suffered relatively more damage but will also soon be repaired and made ready for use again.

It should be noted that the Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman, is one of the world’s most important maritime passages, through which nearly 20% of the world’s crude oil is transported.
