Missiles Target Riyadh and Eastern Province
Coalition spokesperson Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki confirmed in a statement published on the Coalition’s official account on X that Saudi air defense forces intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles heading toward the capital, Riyadh.
The announcement followed an earlier statement confirming that another ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group toward the Eastern Province had also been intercepted and destroyed.
Saudi authorities activated early-warning systems in Riyadh and the Najran region, reassuring citizens and residents that the immediate threat had been contained. Officials also highlighted the effectiveness of the Kingdom’s air defense capabilities in protecting its airspace.
Houthis Yet to Claim Latest Attacks
The Houthi movement has not issued an official claim of responsibility for the latest missile launches.
However, on Saturday, the group announced that it had conducted six military operations involving ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. The Houthis claimed the operations targeted strategic locations, oil facilities, and military installations inside Saudi Arabia.
Reports of Flight Suspension at King Fahd International Airport
The Eastern Province remains one of Saudi Arabia’s most strategically and economically significant regions, encompassing major cities and industrial centers, including Dammam, Al-Ahsa, Jubail, Qatif, and Hafar Al-Batin.
Meanwhile, reports circulating on news platforms and social media suggested that air traffic at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam had been temporarily suspended.
The reports cited flight-tracking data from Flightradar. However, Saudi authorities had not issued an official statement confirming or denying the alleged suspension at the time of reporting.
