The crescent moon of Ramadan 1447 AH has been sighted, and the first fast will be observed across the country on Thursday.

Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Abdul Khabir Azad, announced the sighting of the moon. He said that overall, 22 testimonies of moon sighting were received from across the country. The first fast will be tomorrow, and the first Taraweeh prayer will be offered tonight.

The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to sight the Ramadan moon was held in Peshawar, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. The meeting took place at the Auqaf Hall on Charsadda Road, while zonal committee meetings were held in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta. Committee members, along with representatives from the Meteorological Department, SUPARCO, and the Ministry of Science and Technology, attended the central meeting.

The chairman congratulated the nation on the arrival of the holy month and said that Ramadan is a month of blessings and mercy, urging people to engage in maximum worship.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the unofficial Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was also held at Qasim Ali Khan Mosque, chaired by Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai.

It should be noted that the moon has also been sighted in Bangladesh and India, where the first fast will be observed tomorrow.

In Saudi Arabia, Gulf countries, and Afghanistan, the first fast is being observed today. Similarly, in Iraq, Oman, Turkey, Indonesia, and Malaysia, the first fast will be tomorrow, while in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, the first fast will be on Thursday.
