LAHORE MIRROR — Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has offered to hold talks with the government, calling on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to form a committee comprising political leaders to resolve the ongoing political crisis.
Speaking to the media, Senate Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas said meaningful negotiations between political committees from both sides could help resolve the issues.
“The doors for negotiations are open whenever the government is ready to sit with us,” he said.
Mr Abbas called for meaningful dialogue to pull the country out of its crisis, urging the prime minister to form a team of political leaders to find solutions to the outstanding issues.
He said the participation of empowered decision-makers in the talks could help resolve the problems.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan also said contacts with relevant people at the federal level had continued since Sunday night, adding that the party had conveyed its message regarding recent events.
He urged the authorities to refrain from taking measures that could further aggravate the situation, warning that arrests would make matters more serious.
“It is time to prevent the situation from deteriorating further,” he said.
Mr Gohar said the PTI was not planning to “storm Islamabad”, adding that the party had raised its voice in parliament, the Senate and other forums but had not been heard.
He questioned what other option remained for the party besides protest.
