LAHOR EMIRROR — The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has decided to postpone its planned long march on Islamabad from September 27 to October 5, according to party sources.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the PTI’s political committee held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar on Friday, chaired by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, cabinet members and party parliamentarians attended the meeting, which discussed the long march and the party’s future political strategy.
According to sources, the committee agreed to defer the September 27 march and set October 5 as the new date. However, the decision will be formally announced after consultations with Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, and Raja Nasir Abbas, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.
October 5 is also the birthday of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Sources said a proposal was also discussed to avoid announcing a single final date for the long march in future and instead announce different dates to maintain pressure on the government.
