LAHORE MIRROR — Former Pakistan Test captain and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan will lead Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) in a four-day President’s Trophy match starting on 19 October at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.
SNGPL Director of Cricket and head coach Mohammad Hafeez confirmed that he had received an official email from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director of Domestic Cricket Usama Sheroon Niazi regarding Rizwan’s participation in the match.
The 34-year-old wicketkeeper was among seven players urgently recalled to Pakistan by the PCB in August 2026 after the national side suffered a 194-run defeat against England in the second Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
Rizwan was subsequently summoned to the National Cricket Council of Investigation and Accountability (NCCIA), where an inquiry against him is reportedly under way.
Reports suggest that efforts are being made to improve relations between Rizwan and the cricket board. The wicketkeeper, who has represented Pakistan in 47 Tests, 103 One-Day Internationals and 106 Twenty20 Internationals, is understood to be keen to focus on his cricket rather than become embroiled in further confrontation.
He had also sought the PCB’s permission to resume playing domestic cricket.
