Lahore- An Anti-Terrorism Court acquitted PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a case related to May 9.
The court, while announcing the verdict in the case related to the attack on the GOR gate at Club Chowk on May 9, ordered the acquittal of Shah Mahmood Qureshi. ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gill announced the verdict at Kot Lakhpat Jail.
In addition, the Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Ijaz Chaudhry, and Umar Sarfaraz Cheema to 10 years’ imprisonment each.
During the trial, final statements of 21 accused, including Dr. Yasmin Rashid, were recorded, while the prosecution presented 56 witnesses before the court.
During the trial, four accused were declared absconders. The court acquitted a total of 13 accused, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while sentencing 8 accused, including Dr. Yasmin Rashid, to 10 years’ imprisonment each.
