LAHORE MIRROR — Senior journalist and anchorperson Mansoor Ali Khan has expressed concern over the recent incident involving young journalist Farrukh Shahbaz Warraich, who was stopped by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) upon his return to Pakistan.
During his podcast, Mr Khan praised Mr Warraich as one of the most promising young journalists in the country and highlighted the incident that has since gained significant traction on digital media.
According to details shared by Mr Warraich, he was returning from an overseas trip when FIA officials stopped him at Lahore Airport. The journalist later wrote a detailed account of the episode on his Facebook profile, narrating how he was questioned despite having no criminal record, no FIR against him, and no known activity against the state.
Commenting on the matter, Mansoor Ali Khan said that Mr Warraich is known for his balanced journalism and cannot be associated with any political party. “Placing a journalist of his stature on a stop list and then questioning him upon arrival in Pakistan is beyond comprehension,” he remarked.
He further warned that if individuals with such professional integrity could be stopped at airports without clear justification, it raises serious concerns about the safety and freedom of all citizens, particularly journalists, in the country.
