LAHORE MIRROR — Priceless heirlooms and antiques belonging to the family of the Nawab of Bahawalpur, reportedly worth Rs20 million, were stolen from the residence of Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi, son of Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi, in F-8/3 in Islamabad.
Police registered a case under Sections 454 and 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) after the family discovered that the storeroom had been broken into and the valuable items removed.
The stolen articles included silver and gold valuables, including a silver throne chair, silver ladder, silver bowls and statues, gold plates, Bahawalpur-crested gold plates and a large crested silver frame bearing the emblem of the former Bahawalpur State.
Antique arms and heritage weapons, including old musket guns and swords belonging to the Bahawalpur State, were also reported missing, along with other valuable articles.
According to the complainant, stock-taking and inventory of the belongings were still under way. A supplementary list detailing additional missing items would be submitted to police after completion of the inventory.
