Washington- The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has offered money to immigrants living illegally in the United States to voluntarily leave the country.
According to foreign media, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced that undocumented immigrants who deport themselves by the end of the year will be given free airline tickets and $3,000.
The department’s statement said that immigrants who register for voluntary return through the CBP Home app will be provided travel facilities along with cash. Previously, this amount was $1,000, which has now been increased to $3,000.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem warned that individuals who do not leave the United States voluntarily could face arrest, forced deportation, and a permanent ban on future entry into the country.
She said that since January this year, approximately 1.9 million undocumented immigrants have voluntarily left the United States, while thousands of people have also registered under the CBP Home program.
