Two Pakistani Soldiers, As Many Civilians Martyred In Indian Unprovoked Firing Along LoC
LAHORE MIRROR REPORT– Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC), martyring two Pakistani soldiers and as many citizens, Pakistan military’s media wing said today.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Indian forces targeted border areas of Nikial, Tattapani and Jandrot sectors along LoC. There were reports of three injured victims including a woman.
Two civilians were martyred and two others, including a woman, injured in the Indian unprovoked firing, ISPR said. The injured have been shifted to a hospital in Kotli, the military’s media wing added.
ISPR further said, Pakistani forces responded in a befitting manner and targeted Indian post.
Hawaldar Abdu Rab and Naik Khurram have been identified as martyred.
Given the prevailing situation, Pakistan’s armed forces are on high alert, it added.
India and Pakistan are amidst their biggest standoff in many years, with the United States and other global powers mediating to de-escalate tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbouring countries.
On Tuesday last, Indian warplanes dropped bombs at a hilly forest area near the northern Pakistani town of Balakot, about 40 km from the border with India.
The next day, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down two Indian military aircraft in Pakistani airspace and captured an Indian pilot.
Wing Commander Abhinandan was released and handed over to Indian authorities at Wagah Border on Friday as peace gesture.
