Shalawani Directs To Set Up Old Book Market In Lawn Of Frere Hall At Low Cost For Citizens

KARACHI– Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shalawani has directed to set up and expand the old book market in the lawn of Frere Hall regularly so that historical and rare books are available to the citizens at low cost and book reading trend in Karachi.  He gave this instruction on the occasion of his visit to the book market to be set up in the lawn of Frere Hall. He was accompanied by Senior Director Culture and Sports Syed Khurshid Shah, Director Culture Shams Masoodi and other concerned officers.

Karachi inspected various book stalls and saw books, he said, adding that unfortunately the importance of books has diminished in our country and the trend of reading in the new generation is declining, we need to increase this trend because  “Books are a treasure trove of knowledge and wisdom and should be valued,” he said, adding that scholars and authors are respected figures in society who provide us with information about the past, present and future and foster positive and constructive values.  He said that the shortage of libraries in the city should be addressed  Street libraries are being set up in different areas for the purpose and we are trying our best to set up street libraries in the suburbs so that everyone can benefit from this facility, Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shalawani directed that KMC libraries  He expressed satisfaction that the citizens have appreciated the establishment of street libraries and called it science and literature.
