LAHORE MIRROR — A former prime minister of Pakistan has recently stunned Pakistanis by disclosing the salary of the top office during his tenure.
“I was getting Rs300,000, with up to Rs70,000 salary and daily allowance as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA), and when I became the federal minister, my salary dropped to Rs215,000,” former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said during a podcast session with senior anchor person Farrukh Shahbaz Warraich.

He said his salary as the minister would be Rs115,000 if he had acquired the official residence. Abbasi further said that as soon as he became the prime minister, he was offered a salary of Rs135,000 per month.
Abbasi, who is a renowned businessman and is currently the chairman of the Awaam Pakistan party, recalled that the prime minister used to pay for meals from his own pocket. “The government usually facilitates minor expenses for tea and official functions.”
Abbasi claimed he never stayed at the Prime Minister’s House during his premiership, but visited it on the last day in his office.
