LAHORE MIRROR — Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has written to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for a second time, seeking written details of the inquiry against him and the immediate return of his mobile phone.
In his second letter, Rizwan said he had still not been provided with any written information regarding the inquiry, nor had the NCCIA contacted him about any further proceedings.
Rizwan said his mobile phone was taken from him in England on August 31, after he provided the password. He said the device was examined in his presence and that, when he appeared before the NCCIA on September 10, officials had access to his unlocked phone and reviewed its messages and other contents in his presence.
He said the phone had been taken after he was assured that it would be returned within three hours and that its digital forensic examination would be completed shortly.
Rizwan maintained that he had never refused to provide his phone password at any stage and had consistently co-operated with the NCCIA by providing all required information. The NCCIA is investigating matters reportedly linked to online betting and gambling, as well as alleged dressing-room information leaks. No final finding against Rizwan has been officially announced.
The cricketer requested the agency to inform him in writing of the reasons for the inquiry and specify the date and time on which his presence would be required again.
Rizwan also asked the NCCIA to return his phone without further delay and requested that any future communication with him be made through official channels and sent to his residential address.
