According to WHO, “Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that are common in humans and are responsible for up to 30 per cent of common colds. Corona is Latin for “crown” – this group of viruses is given its name due to the fact that its surface looks like a crown under an electron microscope.”

Coronavirus Covid-19 has created panic among all countries of the world. The first case of this fatal virus was reported in Wuhan, China. The birth of this Covid-19 pandemic gave a number of people around the globe a chance to promote their quackery by introducing numerous alternative cures and prophylaxis.

Among healthcare providers, homeopathy also stepped in and leading homeopathic physicians disseminated prophylactic remedies through print and social media.

It is pertinent to mention here that mortality rate of other infections such as Ebola, Birdflu-H5N1, SARS, Dengue is much higher than that of Coronavirus Covid-19.

Homeopathy treatment is based on the principle of “Like Cures Like” which predicts that a disease can be cured by a medicine, which in healthy people is able to produce a condition that resembles the disease.

Homeopathy has had a long and successful history of treating and/or preventing epidemics such as smallpox, cholera, diphtheria, malaria, yellow fever, and leptospirosis. Homeopathy had a 98% cure rate of the deadly Spanish flu of 1918, compared to the 30% mortality rate of patients treated with Western allopathic medications.

Homeopathy treats the patients according to the symptoms so if someone is living in an area which has not yet been affected by the Coronavirus, one should not take any remedy. Here are the few important remedies that have been prescribed by leading Homeopaths.

Arsenicum album 30C, five drops of this remedy, to be taken once per day for 3 days as a prophylactic measure.

Bryonia Alba 6C or 30C, five drops of this remedy, can be given (only to affected population) once a day, till days become warmer and the epidemic subsides (hopefully).

Oscillosoccinum 200C, five drops in little water once a week during an epidemic attack.

Dr.Prasanta Banerji in his book titled “The Banerji Protocols: A New Method of Treatment with Homeopathic Medicines” suggested the use of Thuja 30C as a preventive measure. The recommended dose is five drops daily initially for seven (07) days, then once a week for another three (03) weeks,

The Amma Resonance Foundation recommends Gelsemium 30C based on the experience of around 30 homeopaths in treating confirmed cases of coronavirus in China. The recommended dose is five drops once a week as long as the outbreak is not near to where one resides, and change to once daily for seven (07) days once it gets closer and then change the dose to twice per week.

In the end, it is suggested self-medication is strictly prohibited. If someone suspects to be a coronavirus infection, he/she must consult the relevant medical authorities forthwith. If someone develops a flu-like symptoms and wishes to take homeopathic treatment, he/she must consult a qualified homeopath.
