Ramadan: Chief Secretary Orders Increasing Price Magistrates To Control Prices
LAHORE– Chief Secretary Punjab Yousaf Naseem Khokhar on Thursday directed the authorities to increase the number of magistrates for effectively controlling the price of essential commodities.
He issued the direction while presiding over a meeting on price control at his office.
The meeting reviewed measures for monitoring of prices of daily-use items and arrangements for Ramadan bazaars.
The Chief Secretary said that officers should perform their duties with the spirit of public service, adding that Ramzan bazaars should be beneficial of people in real sense.
He directed that as well as prices strict check be also kept on quality, demand and supply to avoid shortage of any commodity during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Chief Secretary mentioned that under the Punjab government’s Ramadan Package, flour, sugar, pulses, and vegetables would be available on subsidized rates. He warned that no negligence would be tolerated in arrangements of Ramadan bazaars.
The meeting was briefed that as many as 968 price control magistrates are working to check prices in the province at present. Secretary Food, Secretary Implementation and Coordination, Commissioner Lahore Division, Deputy Commissioner Lahore and officers concerned attended the meeting.– PRESS HANDOUT
