Punjab Govt Dispatches Rescue Teams To Mirpur For Aid
LAHORE– On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, rescue teams have been sent to Mirpur for providing aid and assistance to the earthquake affectees.
Seven ambulances, six rescue vehicles and 90 rescuers from the districts of Gujrat, Gujranwala, Jhelum and Rawalpindi will participate in relief activities in earthquake affected areas.
Food has also been dispatched for earthquake affectees to Mirpur. On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, 3500 food hampers are also being dispatched for earthquake affectees.
CM Usman Buzdar said that Punjab government will provide all possible resources for the help and aid of earthquake affectees.
High alert in Punjab hospitals
On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, high alert has been issued in all government hospitals of Punjab. He said that earthquake affectees can be admitted in all hospitals of Punjab due to which staff of health department should remain standby, alert and vigilant.
Chief Minister directed that medical equipments in hospitals should be ensured to remain functional and adequate amount of life saving and other medicines should also be made available in the hospitals.
He said that mobile teams should also be constituted in the wake of earthquake and its possible damages.
PDMA directed to remain alert for possible aftershocks
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has expressed his grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives due to earthquake at Mirpur and also directed Deputy Commissioner Jhelum to reach Mirpur and help the earthquake affectees forthwith.
Chief Minister directed Deputy Commissioner Jhelum to remain in contact with Mirpur administration and should also extend maximum help in rehabilitation activities. On the direction of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Deputy Commissioner Jhelum left for Mirpur along with ambulance and rehabilitation goods.
An emergency has been imposed in the hospitals of Jhelum in the wake of expected arrival of injured affected due to Mirpur earthquake and doctors and concerned staff have been summoned. We are standing with our brothers of Mirpur earthquake affectees in their hour of trial and need, added Usman Buzdar.
Punjab government will extend all possible help and facilitation to the earthquake affectees. Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt condolence and sympathy with the bereaved families and also prayed for early recovery of the injured.
Later on, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has sought a report about earthquake from different districts of the province. He also directed PDMA to remain vigilant and alert by adding that complete information should be collected about possible damages and conditions of government as well as private buildings should also be reviewed.
The PDMA should ensure adoption of necessary measures in the wake of possible aftershocks, he added.— PRESS HANDOUT
