LAHORE MIRROR — A routine dispute at a petrol station on Lahore’s Airport Road reportedly turned violent when a man allegedly assaulted a pump worker and threatened him with a rifle.
According to CCTV footage circulated on social media, the incident began after petrol pump staff allegedly stopped the man from using an underground fuel storage area as a toilet. The confrontation quickly escalated, with the worker reportedly subjected to physical assault.
A companion of the alleged assailant is also seen in the footage bringing a rifle from a vehicle, loading it and threatening the petrol station employee. A security guard who attempted to intervene was reportedly threatened as well.
The petrol station management subsequently approached the police and sought legal action over the alleged assault, threats and attack on its employees.
Police said an investigation was under way and that CCTV footage was being examined to identify and apprehend those involved. Lahore police authorities have also taken notice of the incident and sought a report.
The episode has once again raised concerns over the alleged use of influence and intimidation against workers simply carrying out their duties. It also highlights the need for effective enforcement of the law, regardless of a person’s social standing or perceived privilege.
