LAHORE– Punjab Minister for Finance Hashim Jawan Bakht has said that all the tax collection and registration have been made online under the Punjab Employees Social Security Institute (PESSI).
The making of funds collection online would assist the people in doing their businesses, the minister said this when he was presiding over a meeting, organized by chief minster’s special monitoring unit, held in order to analyze the performance of the Human and Labour Department.
The legal requirements for the establishment of Punjab Works Welfare Fund have also been completed; he said this adding the Punjab Revenue Authority will be authorized for funds collection after the approval of the Act from the assembly.
He went on to inform that a board will be established in order to maintain rules and regulations for funding and tackling other administrative issues.
Hashim Jawan Bakht added that special attention would be given to protect the rights of the people as its the part of PTI’s election manifesto to uplift the poor section of the society.
The provincial minister directed the secretary labor and human resources to identify the number of employees individually in sub-sections of the department.
The minister also directed that a third party audit should conduct the departmental funds collection while on the other hand, the Department of Industries, the Investment Board and the Law Department should work together to resolve the issues concerning protection of workers’ rights.
Additionally, public private partnership should also be utilized for the establishment of labor colonies, he maintained.
On this occasion, Provincial Minister for Labor and Human Resources Ansar Majeed Khan Niazi, Secretary Sarah Aslam, Head of Chief Minister’s Special Monitoring Unit Fazeel Asif and other officials participated in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Nasir Majeed Khan Niazi said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan is paying special attention to reform of the laws concerning the welfare.
The secretary Labour and Human Resource told the meeting attendees that more than 50 thousands children are getting free education under department’s 65 workers welfare schools.
Furthermore, additional scholarships amounting more than 155 million rupees have been facilitated to 43 thousand children.
Approval of policy 2018 have been taken from the cabinet for the allotments of flats under which the allotments of 1397 flats has been completed in three labour colonies existing in Multan, Warburtan and on Defense Road.
The registration to protect household workers from torture has been kicked off and a mobile application has also been introduced for this purpose, the secretary concluded.— PRESS HANDOUT
