LAHORE– Illegal cultivation and occupation on 19 kanal 18 marla irrigation land was retrieved and the possession was handed over to irrigation department government of the punjab due to the direct intervention of the mohtasib punjab.
Mohtasib also directed the irrigation department to conduct a survey regarding the occupant land across punjab and submit report within 30 days.
According to details, a resident Saif Ullah Khalid of Makhdoom Pur, District Khanewal submitted a complaint 10 years back that 19 kanal and 18 marla land of Irrigation Department was not only occupied by the illegal occupants but also it was cultivated by them and getting the financial benefits through agriculture.
While taking action on the back dated old applications Mohtasib Punjab Maj (R) Azam Suleman Khan took serious notice on the longest pending application of Saif Ullah Khalid regarding the above said issue. On the direction of the Mohtasib, a thorough departmental investigation was conducted within the Mohtasib Team. In the light of the report of the Investigation Team, Mohtasib Office directed the Irrigation Department to take serious action against such land grabbers and retrieved the state land from these culprits. He also directed the Department to deposit the ‘Tawan’ of the said cultivated land during the period in the treasury.
Azam Suleman further directed the Department to conduct a comprehensive survey across Punjab regarding the illegal occupations of the Irrigation Department’s land, so that the Department as a custodian can retrieve this land from the land grabbers. He further directed that Irrigation Department is bound to submit the survey report in this Office within the period of 30 days.
Moreover, Mohtasib Punjab also directed the Senior Member Board of Revenue to maintain the record of the official statistics in this regard by setting a strong monitoring system to maintain the transparency regarding the income of these illegal occupant lands.–PRESS RELEASE
