Noose Tightened Around Drug Peddlers Outside Educational Institutes As Arrests Reach to 165

LAHORE– Lahore operations police in continuation of its crackdown against the drug peddlers around the educational institutions in the city have so far arrested as many 165 accused persons in the last three days.

In compliance with the orders of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar and Inspector General of Punjab Police Punjab Captain (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan, DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan has already directed all divisional SPs of Lahore police to speed up crackdown against narcotics sellers outside educational institutions.

He himself is monitoring the actions taken against drug peddlers by Lahore Police.

Accordingly, City Division police registered 42, Cantt Division 40, Civil Lines Division 14, Sadar Division 38, Iqbal Town Division 14 where as Model Town Division Police registered 17 FIRs during their crackdown.

Police also recovered 53kg and 385grm Charas, 22grm ICE, 455grm heroin, 110grm opium, more than 03kg Bhang and 764 liters of liquor from the arrested criminals.

DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan said that Lahore Police has been implementing on zero tolerance policy against the criminals particularly drug peddlers who try to make our youth a victim of narcotics.

He said that youth is future of the nation and Lahore Police will not allow anyone to damage the future of our youth and nation.

The DIG said that Lahore Police has started strict action against drug peddlers following the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar and taking measures, in collaboration with related departments.

He said that necessary information sharing is continued with Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) and raids are being conducted on daily basis against these anti social elements.

Lahore Police has also arranged anti drugs awareness campaign and lectures are being delivered in different educational institutions of the city as well to worn the students against fatal affects of narcotics.

DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan said that the basic purpose of delivering awareness lectures is to make the students, teachers and educational management aware of their basic responsibilities to be aware of the menace of drugs.

Lahore Police will deal with these anti social elements with iron hands, he added. Citizens should also cooperate fully with Lahore Police to eliminate the menace of narcotics from our society, he concluded.— PRESS HANDOUT
