NHMP Sports Festival 2019 Begins at Training College Sheikhupura

SHIKHUPURA– Additional Inspector General National Highways Motorway Police Khalid Mehmood has said the department’s top priority is to ensure physical fitness of its employees by indulging them in sports activities throughout the year.

“Annual sports festival has become a salient feature of the department,” Khalid Mehmood said during opening ceremony of 9th Annual Sports Festival 2019 that held at the NHMP Training College, Sheikhupura.

Commandant Training College DIG Mehboob Aslam, DIG Motorway M4 Sultan Chaudhry, DIG Central Zone Ahmad Arslan Malik, DIG North Aalam Shinwari, Deputy Commandant SP Ghulam Qadir Sindu, media representatives and a large number of police officers and officials were also present.

In a week long NHMP Sports Festival 2019, as many 595 players from all across the country will participate in 24 sports events including Cricket, Football, Tug of War, Basketball, Volley Ball, Shooting, Shot Put, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Badminton and Athletic competitions.

At opening ceremony, the sports contingents dressed in colorful sports dresses from North, Central, South, West, Motorway Zones and Headquarter Islamabad, marched passed before chief guest.

Later, a friendly match of Tug of War was played between last year champion team of Central Zone and runner up team of Motorway Zone. The match was won by Central Zone. A 100 meter men race was also part of opening events of NHMP Sports Festival which was won by JPO Israr of Training College.

Addressing the occasion, Additional IG NHMP Khalid Mehmood said the NHMP is renowned as courteous, honest and helping force. Only a physical and mentally fit officer can upheld these core values of this department.

He further said the sports activities always create healthy competition in any organization and is quite helpful in developing personality traits of tolerance, team work and struggle to achieve the success.

Earlier welcoming the chief guest of the ceremony, Commandant NHMP Training College DIG Mehboob Aslam said the sports activities are essential to boost the morale of any force and he had tried his best to make extraordinary arrangements to make this festival memorable for all participants.—PRESS RELEASE
